Course Goals:
This FREE course is designed to provide law enforcement with the tools, techniques, and strategies to effectively respond to all phases of abducted/missing child investigations. At the conclusion of the course, attendees will be able to identify and effectively utilize the investigative tools/methods that will be explained through current case studies and research as the “best practices” in child abduction investigations.
This training is based on the FBI’s Child Abduction Response Plan (CARP), which is the national model for best practices when responding to and investigating cases involving children who are missing under mysterious or suspicious circumstances. Attendees will receive a copy of the newest edition of the FBI’s Child Abduction Response Plan (CARP). The CARP provides step-by-step guidance to law enforcement agencies and personnel conducting these investigations.

- Current case studies from FBI CARD team deployments nationwide
- Joint CARD (JCARD) Team Overview
- Tabletop exercises conducted on the last day of training
Who Should Attend:
Law Enforcement Personnel to include: Investigators/Detectives and Supervisors who respond to, manage, and/or handle missing/abducted children cases or death investigations.
Principal Instructors: Instructors are members of the FBI’s Child Abduction Rapid Deployment (CARD) Team. The CARD teams consist of experienced and specially trained personnel who quickly respond to non-family child abductions, ransom child abductions, and mysterious disappearances of children across the country to provide investigative, technical, and resource assistance to state/local law enforcement.
