It's My Life

The overall goal of It’s MY Life is to improve the local workforce. This program promises to deliver two important messages:

1. Work-life skills do matter on the job—getting to work on time; taking responsibility for one’s choices when your job could be jeopardized; getting along with others; and more, and

2. Your choice to continue your education will make for a better lifestyle down the road—Marketable skills for better jobs will help one to enjoy the fruits of their labor!

It’s all about choices young people make. It’s MY Life! emphasizes how your choices impact your future.

How is it delivered?
The 20 minute video can be shown in classroom. Where possible, volunteers from business and industry will make the presentations similar to the manner in which Texas Scholars is delivered. High school counselors who have seen the video want it shown it to all students, and more than once.

This is an opportunity for local businesses to get back into the classroom, and this coordinated project is the first of its kind for our Texoma area—business representatives taking work behavior issues directly to students.

How is this program different from other career cluster videos?
This program connects the dots for the high school student. They are introduced to seven young professionals; learn a little about each person’s background and what they do at work; and they hear of how taking care of business on the job makes it possible to afford to have fun off the job!
