Dental Assistant – Pit & Fissure Sealant.
This course provides clinical and didactic education in pit and fissure sealants. Subjects cover infection control, patient management, treatment of medical emergencies, microbiology, chemistry, dental anatomy, sealant products, techniques and placement, ethics and jurisprudence related to pit and fissure sealants, and the correct application of sealants (includes actual clinical application of sealants). Laboratory and clinical aspects give you experience in securing a dry field, training in utilizing a slow-speed hand piece, placing dental sealants with light- and chemical-cured products on a manikins etchable teeth, and placing at least two pit and fissure sealants on a manikins etchable tooth.
Dental Assistant – Coronal Polishing
This course will cover Oral Anatomy; Tooth morphology; Indications, contraindications, & complications; Infection control procedures; and Jurisprudence relating to coronal polishing. Laboratory and Clinical activity will include Training in using a slow-speed hand piece; Principles of Coronal Polishing; Armamentarium, operator & patient positioning, technique, & polishing agents; and Polishing coronal surfaces of teeth.

Certified Nurse Aide Training
Do you have a heart for those in long-term care? Then this 80-hour course is for you. Approved by the Nurse Aide Registry and Training Program of the Texas Department of Health, it is designed to introduce concepts and skills required for providing basic patient care in a long-term care facility. The curriculum also is appropriate for home health aides. Topics include human anatomy and physiology, infection control, safety, basic physical and psychological needs related to developmental stages, patient care skill and principles of nutrition. In addition to classroom learning, you experience hands-on clinical work as well.
Fee: $325 (includes liability insurance coverage) / Textbook: About $60 (Available in the GCC Bookstore)
Testing fee: Varies from $83 (written) to $96 (oral) per student. It must be paid no later than the first week of class.
Notes: Choose one session. A background check including criminal history will be done prior to start of class. All monies will be refunded if you are ineligible to attend. Attention: All students enrolled in this course are required to provide TB Tine test results and proof of completed immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Diphtheria Tetanus (within past 10 years), Varicella (chicken pox) and Hepatitis B prior to enrollment.
